Christian Kiehl (born October 22, 1949 - † January 26, 2014 ) was a German ski jumper .

Career

Kiehl, who jumped for the SC Traktor Oberwiesenthal , celebrated his first success in jumping on the Inselbergschanze in 1969, where he set a new hill record at 89.5 meters, which he soon improved to 94 meters. He made his international debut at the end of the same year at the Four Hills Tournament 1969/70 . Already at the opening competition on the Schattenbergschanze in Oberstdorf he surprisingly landed in sixth place. He reached seventh place on the Great Olympic Hill in Garmisch-Partenkirchen . After a poor 41st place in Innsbruck , he finished the tour with 12th place on the Paul-Ausserleitner-Schanze in Bischofshofen . In the overall ranking he reached 13th place.

At the GDR championships in 1970, Kiehl won bronze on the normal hill behind Horst Queck and Jürgen Dommerich .

At the Four Hills Tournament in 1971/72 , Kiehl tried again to build on the success from the 1969/70 season, but ended up being far behind from the world's best in all competitions. His last tour, therefore, ended in 53rd place.

After his sports career, he worked for the Oberwiesenthal city administration and was temporarily active for them as a spa director.
