Horst Queck (born October 5, 1943 in Steinach ) is a former German ski jumper who competed for the German Democratic Republic .

Career

Queck celebrated his international debut with the start of the Four Hills Tournament in 1965/66 . However, he was unsuccessful. The best result was a 38th place in Innsbruck . Queck won the bronze medal behind Dieter Neuendorf and Bernd Karwofsky at the GDR championships in 1967 and the silver medal in team jumping together with Peter Lesser , Heinz Schmidt and Veit Kühr . A year later he won silver behind Manfred Queck . Previously, he had reached ninth place in the Four Hills Tournament 1967/68 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen . At the Four Hills Tournament in 1969/70 Queck achieved his first ever podium finish in Innsbruck with second place. In the end, after further good results, he was able to celebrate the overall victory. A short time later he also secured his second and third GDR championship title on the normal hill in front of Jürgen Dommerich and Christian Kiehl and on the large hill in front of Bernd Willomitzer and Heinz Schmidt . At the Four Hills Tournament 1970/71 , he could no longer build on his performance from the previous year. It was his last tour.

After his career as a ski jumper, he became a coach, first at his home club SC Motor Zella-Mehlis , and later as a national coach.
