Christian Kortholt the Younger

Christian Kortholt the Younger (born March 30, 1709 in Kiel , † September 21, 1751 in Göttingen ) was a German Lutheran theologian .

Life

Christian Kortholt (the younger) was the son of Professor Sebastian Kortholt (1675–1760) from Kiel . He began his studies at the University of Kiel , where he acquired the academic degree of Master of Philosophy in 1728 . He then continued his theological studies at the University of Wittenberg and the University of Leipzig . In Leipzig he obtained permission to read for universities in 1731 and was accepted into the large college of preachers in the same year.

In 1732 he was in the collegiate of the small royal college and completed - in keeping with the customs of the time - a scholars' journey that took him to Holland , England and Denmark . After returning to Germany, he became a Danish embassy preacher in Vienna , before accepting an appointment at the University of Göttingen as associate professor of theology and university preacher in 1742 . In 1745 he received his doctorate in theology, in 1748 he was pastor at the Jakobskirche and superintendent of the churches and schools in the office of Harste .
