Christian Kvasnicka

Christian Kvasnicka (born November 13, 1953 in Vienna ) is an Austrian painter and creator of graphics and sculptures who lives and works in Wiener Neudorf and Enzesfeld .

Life

Christian Kvasnicka studied from 1973 to 1980 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna (graduating with the academic degree: Magister artium ).

From 1976 to 1983 he headed the cultural department of the then Länderbank and was co-founder of the " Fotografis " collection and the Länderbank art collection (now BA-CA Kunstforum of Bank Austria Creditanstalt ).

Since 1995 he has been director of the Art Collectors Club of the Vienna Red Cross , a cultural initiative in which prominent Austrian and international artists support the research fund of the Vienna Red Cross with unique graphics.

From 2000 to 2002 he worked as a set designer and dealt with light painting in collaboration with Renato Zanella and the Vienna State Opera Ballet on the Klagenfurt Seebühne , in the Kaiserzelt in Altaussee , in the Odeon Theater and in the Vienna State Opera .

In 2002 and 2003 he was curator of the Independent Art Fair New York in collaboration with Michele Boos / Art Tribune New York.

Since 2001 he has been teaching as director of the School of Seeing in Lengau / Salzburg and since 2003 as an art theorist for courses of the Austrian Federal Railways. He is the Artistic Advisory Board of the Initiatives Economy for Art - Maecenas.

In 2006 he was awarded the professional title of Professor by the Federal President . In April 2014 he was solemnly presented with the Austrian Cross of Honor for Science and Art . In 2019, Reinhard Krepler , President of the Red Cross Vienna, presented him with the Golden Merit Medal of the Austrian Red Cross. On July 15, 2019, according to the resolution of the Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen of January 14, 2019, he was presented with the Great Decoration of Honor for Services to the Republic of Austria by Section Head Jürgen Meindl .
