Christian Ludolph Reinhold (1775)

Christian Ludolph Reinhold (born November 11, 1739 in Wunstorf ; † April 19, 1791 in Versmold ) was a German draftsman and engraver , mathematician , physicist and teacher.

Life

Reinhold's place and year of birth are stated differently, but his baptism on November 20, 1739 is in the Protestant church book of Wunstorf (Reinholtz). Reinhold studied at the University of Duisburg and was in 1768 by the University of Göttingen with a thesis top the nature and history of mathematics Dr. phil. PhD. As early as 1763 he worked in Osnabrück as a surveyor, author and teacher for mathematics and physics at the Ratsgymnasium Osnabrück and corresponded with Georg Christoph Lichtenberg on surveying issues . He created maps of Osnabrück and the surrounding area, but also made the illustrations for his writings. In 1790 Reinhold was appointed Prussian trade mark division and economy commissioner in the Ravensberg office .

His student Johann Georg Christian Frye engraved a portrait of Reinhold in 1775.

Reinholdstrasse, which were named after him, can be found in Osnabrück and Wiedenbrück .
