Christian Reineccius (born January 22, 1668 in Großmühlingen , † October 18, 1752 probably in Weißenfels ) was a German Hebrew , theologian and educator.

Life

Christian Reineccius was a student at the Mariental Abbey School near Helmstedt and the Andreanum Gymnasium in Hildesheim . From 1688 to 1690 he was a student at the University of Helmstedt . After working as a preacher in Magdeburg , he went to Quedlinburg in 1690 . In 1692 Reineccius resumed his academic studies at the University of Rostock , and in 1694 moved to the University of Leipzig and Halle . In 1700 he became a private lecturer at the University of Leipzig. Scientifically, he focused primarily on linguistic biblical research through Bible translations, especially of the Old Testament , but also worked on other theological texts such as concordances . His Bible editions and writings saw several editions in the 18th century. In 1721 he became rector of the illustrious Augusteum grammar school in Weißenfels , the tradition of which is continued today by the Goethe grammar school in Weißenfels . He lived and worked there until his death.
