Christina Voormann

Christina Voormann (née Schwalb ; born February 13, 1951 in Munich ) is a German singer and non-fiction author . As a singer, she was known by the name Christina May and her former married name Christina Harrison .

Life

Musical career

Voormann became known as a singer under the name Christina May and released her first two singles in 1969 .

In 1971 she replaced the singer Linda Uebelherr in the band Love Generation , which had emerged from the Cornely Singers in 1969 , who switched to the Les Humphries Singers in 1973 . With Love Generation, she was, among other things in the New Year's Eve broadcast of ZDF - Show by us for you to see the year 1971/1972. The formation released several albums and singles with her.

After her marriage to the musician Martin Harrison, she brought out further singles as a solo artist under the name Christina Harrison from 1975 to 1978 . With her German version of the ABBA hit SOS she appeared in Dieter Thomas Heck's ZDF hit parade on November 22, 1975 . Your version was very present on German radio at the time.

With her bandmates Gitta Walther and Lucy Neale as well as Dagmar Hellberg , she founded the quartet The Hornettes in 1979 . With the title Mannequin , the band took part in the German preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest in 1981 and placed it in the German music charts for twelve weeks . With Waikiki Tamouré they were able to stay in the charts for six weeks again in the same year. In 1983 the quartet took part in the Austrian preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest with Hello, Mr. Radio and reached third place. Christina Voormann left the formation in 1985.

Further career

Christina Voormann trained in massage and cosmetics and completed Ayurveda courses by attending a vocational school . In 1995 she founded an Ayurveda center in Munich. In the women's clinic of the Rotkreuzklinikum Munich , she performed Ayurvedic maternity massages.

In 1998 she published with the Germany-based Ayurvedic physician Govinda Dandekar first time the book baby massage , which published in several expanded editions and was translated into eight languages.

For several months she lived on a reservation in the Lakota and since then she has been committed to the rights of the Lakota Indians, regularly visits the Pine Ridge Reservation and is chairman of the association "Lakota Village", which supports the Lakota in lifting themselves out of poverty .

Private

After her divorce, she married Klaus Voormann in 1990 . The couple lives on Lake Starnberg and has two grown children.
