Christine Haidegger (born February 27, 1942 in Dortmund - Barop as Ingeborg-Christine Haidegger ) is an Austrian writer .

Christine Haidegger spent her youth in Upper Austria. After attending high school and graduating from high school , she spent several years in the United Kingdom, France and Italy. She has lived as a freelance writer in Salzburg since 1964 . From her marriage to Eberhard Haidegger in 1965 the daughter Christina Maria († 1989) emerged, who also worked as a writer under the pseudonym Meta Merz and whose estate Christine Haidegger looks after. In 1974 Christine Haidegger was one of the founders of the group of authors " projekt-IL ", from 1975 to 1981 she published the literary magazine of the same name . In 1978 she took part in the Ingeborg Bachmann Competition in Klagenfurt.

Since 1989 Christine Haidegger has been taking reading and study trips to the south and southwest of the USA; In 1991 she was writer-in-residence at Roanoke College in Salem, Virginia.

Christine Haidegger was co-founder of the Salzburg Literaturhaus and is currently a member of the Grazer Autorenversammlung , the IG authors authors and the Salzburg group of authors whose chairwoman , she was for many years. She also launched the Meta Merz Literature Prize, which is advertised at irregular intervals as a sponsorship prize for young women authors.
