Christoph Delphicus from Dohna

Christoph Delphicus, Burgrave and Count of Dohna-Carektiven (born June 4, 1628 in Delft , † May 21, 1668 in London ) was a Swedish general and diplomat. He founded the Swedish line of those von Dohna .

origin

His parents were Christoph von Dohna and Countess Ursula von Solms-Braunfels (born November 24, 1594 in Braunfels , † August 18, 1657 in Turnhout ). His brothers Friedrich von Dohna (1621–1688) and Christian Albrecht von Dohna also became officers. His cousin was the Electress Luise Henriette of Brandenburg .

Life

Christoph Delphicus von Dohna entered the Swedish service and in 1651 became Lord Chamberlain of Queen Christina , 1653 Colonel of the Life Guard , 1654 Major General of the Infantry and Colonel of Knights and Fief Horses in the Duchy of Bremen , 1658 Vice Governor of Bremen and Verden , 1659 General of the Infantry, commanded the 1666 Swedish camp in front of Bremen, became field marshal , went to Breda as extraordinary ambassador to the peace congress in 1667, signed the well-known Triple Alliance in The Hague on January 23, 1668 ( see War of Devolution ) and died in London on May 21, 1668 . He was first buried in the Storkyrkan in Stockholm before he was reburied in Uppsala Cathedral in 1674 . The tomb probably comes from Pieter Verbruggen .

family

Von Dohna married Countess Anna Oxenstierna (1620–1691) in 1658 , the daughter of the Imperial Treasurer Gabriel Bengtsson Oxenstierna . The couple had the following children:
