Vita

After graduating from high school at Arndt-Gymnasium in Krefeld , Dohr studied musicology , Middle and New History as well as ethnology at the University of Cologne , graduating with a Magister Artium in 1989. From 1989 to 1991 he researched the Jacques Offenbach holdings in the historical archive of Cologne . More intensive musicological research connects him with the musical life of his hometown Krefeld and with the composer Johann Christian Heinrich Rinck ; He is also a musical instrument expert with a focus on stringed keyboard instruments.

Professional and voluntary work

In 1990, Dohr founded Verlag Dohr , a four-branch music publisher based in Cologne (1990-2010) and Bergheim (since 2010). In 1989 and 2003, music festivals designed and organized by Dohr took place in Krefeld ("opus '89"; focus: Krefeld composers) and in Cologne ("Rinck Festival Cologne 2003" to revive the work of Johann Christian Heinrich Rinck ).

Since 2005, Dohr has presented the “Dohr Collection” to the public in Haus Eller in Bergheim -Ahe, a collection of historical keyboard instruments in originals and replicas that are true to the original, in particular through regular concert events. The collection is called the "Pianomuseum Haus Eller".

As a musicologist and publisher, Dohr campaigns for contemporary composers on the one hand and for the rediscovery of composers from the 18th and 19th centuries, e.g. B. Norbert Burgmüller , Johann Christian Heinrich Rinck , Friedrich Kiel , Leopold Anton Kozeluch , Carl Gottlieb Reissiger and Louis Spohr .

Dohr is involved on a voluntary basis, including as head of the choir publishers working group in the German Music Publishers' Association (2005-2011), as chairman of the board of trustees of the Johann Lütter Foundation Heinsberg (since 2001) and the Carl Gottlieb Reissiger Foundation Belzig (2006 –2014), as an advisory board member in the Int. Jacques Offenbach Society (2008–2010) and the Working Group for Rhenish Music History (2005–2010) as well as deputy on the administrative board for professional group 6 (scientific publishers) in VG Wort / Wissenschaft (since 2015).
