In the years 1702 to 1713 Goltz took part in the Prussian troops that King Friedrich I provided to the Habsburgs in the campaigns of the War of the Spanish Succession in southern Germany and the Netherlands. During these years Goltz rose to lieutenant colonel in the Margrave Albrecht infantry regiment in 1705 and to colonel and commander of the Count Truchseß zu Waldburg battalion in 1709. On November 13, 1731 he received the post of Drost zu Reinsberg. In the War of the Polish Succession , Goltz moved to the Rhine at the head of his regiment in 1734.

As commandant, Goltz was responsible for the further expansion of the city and fortress of Magdeburg. In 1732 he made a special contribution to the accommodation of the Salzburg exiles , for whom King Friedrich Wilhelm I had made him responsible. Goltz was the bearer of the Order of the Black Eagle .

family

Goltz married April 16, 1697 Elisabeth Juliane von Bonin (* 1673; † July 19, 1755); the marriage remained without children. His fiefdom reverted to the king after his death.

The couple had the foster daughter Charlotte Louise von dem Borne (born May 9, 1735). This married Bogislaw Ernst von Bonin (* 1727, † July 27, 1797), who got the Repzin estate for it. The marriage was divorced on August 20, 1764, because they had gambled away her husband's fortune.
