Jakob von Bechefer

Jakob Bechefer , from 1705 von Bechefer (later: Beschefer ; * July 25, 1661 in Vitry-le-François ; † October 19, 1731 in Magdeburg ) was a Prussian lieutenant general , commander of Magdeburg and lord of Weysensee.

Life

origin

Bechefer came from France as one of the many refugees . He was the son of David Bechefer (1627–1697) and Susanne Vanier.

Career

In 1685 he was an ensign in the infantry - regiment "Markgraf". In 1692 he became a captain of this regiment. On October 29, 1701, with the permission of the king , he went to Holland as major and adjutant general with the Brandenburg troops . On February 27, 1703 he became lieutenant colonel and on March 9, 1707 colonel . Already on January 18, 1705, he was with his wife of King Frederick William I in the Prussian nobility raised . In 1711 he was the commander of the “von Grumbkow” regiment (No. 17) . In 1716 he received the "Dohna" infantry regiment (No. 4) . On June 15, 1718, he was appointed major general. On June 28, 1729 he became the governor of Beeskow and Storckow . In 1729 (or 1730) he became lieutenant general and became a Knight of the Black Eagle Order . While still in command of Magdeburg , he took over the "Arnim" regiment (No. 5) .
