Christoph Hertling

Christoph Hertling (born March 30, 1934 in Berlin -Weißensee; † June 9, 1992 in Niebüll ; full name: Christoph Georg Erdmann Hertling ) was a German architect , set designer and interior designer .

Hertling first learned to be a carpenter and then studied architecture at the Berlin University of the Arts . He was an employee in Frei Otto's office and worked in the 1970s primarily as an interior designer and stylist for the magazines Brigitte and Schöner Wohnen and as a set designer for German film productions. After working independently in Berlin, which was mainly characterized by work in the field of interior design (loft conversions, shop fitting) and the restoration of listed buildings, he moved to Schleswig-Holstein and specialized in the restoration of historic Frisian houses from Niebüll . With his unmistakable style, which is characterized by original fittings, functional details and lively colors, he shaped a north German variant of the modern country house style.
