Christoph Wilhad Hilcken

Christoph Wilhad Hilcken (* 1664 in Hamburg ; † December 16, 1717 ibid) was a German lawyer and senior senior secretary of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg.

Life

Hilcken was born in Hamburg in 1664, attended the learned school of the Johanneum and from 1681 the academic high school . He then studied law at the University of Rostock and the University of Jena and received his doctorate there in 1690 as a licentiate in canonical and secular law under Professor Peter Müller (1640–1696), member of the Fruitful Society . Hilcken returned to his hometown after completing his studies and initially worked as a lawyer . In 1699 he was elected executor of the professor at the Academic Gymnasium Vincent Placcius (1642-1699).

Hilckens married Christina Maria Daurer in 1703 (born October 4, 1686 in Stockholm; † July 9, 1715 in Hamburg). The marriage remained childless.

In 1704 he gave Placcius's book collection of 4,000 volumes to the Hamburg City Library . In 1707 and 1709 Hilcken worked as a judge at the Hamburg Lower Court . On August 16, 1716, he was elected senior secretary to succeed Hinrich Diederich Wiese , who was elected to the Senate , but died on December 16, 1717 at the age of 53.
