Badoux has been drawing illustrations for various newspapers and magazines as well as school books since 1991. For example for Die Wochenzeitung and Neue Zürcher Zeitung and in the comic magazine Strapazin . From 2007 to 2009 he regularly published a comic strip for the travel magazine “via”, from 2002 to 2010 he illustrated Kurt Aeschbacher's column in Bolero magazine , and since 2005 Badoux has published in the Velojournal .

At the same time he has been publishing comic books on a regular basis since 1999. The debut “Bupo Schoch” turned out to be extremely detailed, “I wanted to prove myself”, says Badoux. With co-authors Jürg Brändli and cabaret artist Beat Schlatter , he told the hair-raising story of a federal police officer who investigates murderous garden gnomes. The comic adventure, initially planned as a film, caused a sensation in Switzerland as an “entertaining crime comedy” for “the broad and happy-ending-loving audience”. Other media in Switzerland and Germany unanimously praised the illustrated book "as an exciting comic, behind whose bizarre and imaginative plot are funny allusions to real people and a lot of political satire", as a "funny federal state delirium for nanologists" and "wonderfully grotesque piece".

In 2006, Badoux addressed the rare brain disease Moyamoya as a trip through the human body in “Fatma's Fantastic Journey” . The book was aimed specifically at affected children from the age of 10, and this, according to the media, in “amazingly captivating, full of funny details and extremely inviting”. The comic - published by the neurosurgeon Nadja Khan - is “an homage to Ligne Claire and a commitment to the narrativity of comics. But first of all (...) consolation. "

In 2008 his artist biography “Klee” about Paul Klee was published in comic form on behalf of the Zentrum Paul Klee . “With all historical accuracy (...) the illustrated book exudes graphic composure. And an almost cinematic sense for dramatic moments ”. “The fact that he also translates famous Klee pictures into his own optics makes the book itself a work of art”. “This complexity makes“ Klee ”pleasant read, even for adults”.

In January 2010 his fourth comic album “The fifth variable” was released. The social satire about the generation conflict , the police and the Swiss pension fund system was commissioned by Avenir Suisse , and “clearly conveys basic knowledge (...) deliberately intensifies the impending dispute between young and old”. With 15,000 copies sold, the comic was one of the bestsellers in the genre.

In August 2011 Badoux published the children's book “The Unheimliche Stein” with the writer Angelika Waldis in Atlantis-Verlag. This also received praise: “An incredibly exciting story about a magic stone that can make things disappear”, judged the media, and “funny illustrated story about the dark side of magic” or “attractively staged, half picture story, half children's novel”.

In 2012, “By bike through the galaxy” was published, in the comic strips he tells “with humor about the everyday life of users and interprets the history of the two-wheeler in a completely new way!” "One encounters extremely carefully drawn jokes - often verbal jokes as well - that testify to a profound knowledge of the subject".

In 2013 Badoux acted as co-curator of the exhibition “Al-Comix al-Arabi” for the Lucerne comic festival Fumetto and exhibited together with other illustrators as part of the Solothurn Literature Days under the title “Graphic Novels - Narrative Comics”.

From April 2010 he also published online comic strips about the FC Zurich fan “ Stan the Hooligan ” together with the author Marcel Gamma . Before that, the comic had been published in the FC Zurich fanzine “Igang 3” since 2004. In September 2014 “Bier, Pyro und Daleo” was published, the first book that was exclusively dedicated to the character. It included the best strips since 2004 and many new ones. It was financed in a crowdfunding campaign: “Now“ Stan The Hooligan ”is also conquering bookstores. Thanks to a lot of donations from the population ”, reported the Basellandschaftliche Zeitung. “The initiators of the comic book had the targeted 11,000 francs together in just four days. Nobody has got their project financed so quickly, ”says Annabelle.

In terms of content, the book received a lot of praise in advance: "Cheeky, sensual and idiosyncratic humorous" , according to the Tages-Anzeiger. "Because the whole thing is only copied from reality and translated into funny comics" , you have a great conversation with Stan, according to the NZZ am Sonntag and in the Bernese Bund: "Stan is cult"

In 2016 the book "Sick written" was published, a collection of comics about the world of doctors.

further activities

From 2003, Badoux worked as a lecturer in the Department of Design and Art at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences . In January 2012 he was responsible for the animated film “The Hole”, which was created as a video clip for the single of the same name by the musician Nadja Zela . In 2012 the Swiss children's band Silberbüx published a song book illustrated with pictures by Badoux.

style

Badoux drew in the style of the Ligne claire , which was introduced by Hergé and which he appropriated during an 8-year stay in Paris. “I know Hergé inside out, but also artists like Hugo Pratt or Moebius ”. According to a magazine, he is "also called" Hergé of Switzerland "by his fans because of his clear style." "The clear, geometrical lines, the reduction of details and at the same time the accuracy of historical evidence (...)," says the Solothurner Zeitung, are impressive.
