Christophe Roux (born July 27, 1983 in Verbier ) is a former Swiss ski racer starting for the Republic of Moldova . He comes from the canton of Valais and is the son of the former ski racer Philippe Roux . Together with compatriot Urs Imboden , who was active until 2011, and the South Tyrolean Sascha Gritsch , who had to end his career due to a serious injury in 2007, he formed the “Legionnaires” alpine team of Moldova.

Career

From December 1998, Roux took part - mainly in Switzerland - in FIS races as well as in the Swiss championships, but hardly achieved any top positions. Until 2005, he finished on the podium in only two FIS races. After failing to qualify for a Swiss Ski team, Roux took on Moldovan citizenship in May 2006 and has since formed the new Moldovan national team with Urs Imboden and Sascha Gritsch. The team was trained by the South Tyrolean Hans Daniel Fahrner .

Due to the change of nation, Roux also had the opportunity to compete in the World Cup , World Championships and Olympic Games . However, Roux did not come close to the success of his teammate Urs Imboden. In the World Cup he could not qualify for a second round in any of his races and he also remained without points in the European Cup . At least in FIS races he achieved several victories and podium places.

In 2007 and 2009 Roux took part in the Alpine World Ski Championships. 2007 he finished in Åre in fourth place in the Last 61 of the Super-G and fell in the slalom, giant slalom and in the super-combined. In 2009 he was 36th in the giant slalom in Val-d'Isère , but retired again in the slalom. At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , he achieved a placement in midfield with 28th place in slalom and 44th place in giant slalom. After the 2009/2010 season, Roux ended his career.
