Christopher McQuarrie
Christopher Allen McQuarrie (born October 25, 1968 in Princeton Junction , New Jersey ) is an American screenwriter , film director and film producer , who is best known for films with Tom Cruise in the lead role.
Life
Christopher McQuarrie visited along with Bryan Singer , the High School . After leaving school, he lived in Australia for a year, where he worked at a boarding school. After returning to the USA, he worked for a security company for four years.
In 1991 he wrote the screenplay for the film Public Access with Bryan Singer and Michael Feit Doug , which also made Singer's debut as a director. The film, which won the 1993 Sundance Film Festival Jury Grand Prize , marked the breakthrough for McQuarrie.
In 1995 he wrote the screenplay for The Usual Suspects , for which he won an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay in 1996; for this he also received a BAFTA Award and an Independent Spirit Award . In this film he played a supporting role as a police officer during interrogation.
McQuarries made his debut as a director with The Way of the Gun in 2000. In 2008 the film Operation Valkyrie - The Stauffenberg Assassination , for which McQuarrie wrote the script, was released. In 2010 he developed the short-lived NBC television series Persons Unknown . In 2012 he directed his second film with Jack Reacher . After that, his third collaboration with Tom Cruise was Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation , which was released in theaters in July 2015. Their cooperation continued in 2018 with the action film Mission: Impossible - Fallout directed by McQuarrie . The year before that, The Mummy was released, in which he was involved in the script and which Cruise starred. He will also direct parts seven and eight of the Mission Impossible film series , which are due to be released in summer 2021 and 2022 respectively.
As a producer, McQuarrie was involved in the films Operation Walküre - Das Stauffenberg-Assentat (2008) and The Stanford Prison Experiment (2015).
Christopher McQuarrie is married to the costume designer Heather McQuarrie , whom he met on the set of The Way of the Gun .
