Christopher "Chris" Thompson (born April 17, 1981 in Barrow-in-Furness ) is a British long-distance runner .

Life

In 2003 he took 19th place on the short distance at the Cross Country World Championships in Avenches and 98th place on the long distance in 2004 at the Cross Country World Championships in Brussels . In 2003 he was U23 European champion over 5000 m , the following year he was British champion over the same distance.

At the European Championships in Gothenburg in 2006 , he was eliminated over 5000 m in the preliminary run. In 2010 he became British champion over 5000 m and won the silver medal over 10,000 m at the European Championships in Barcelona behind his compatriot Mo Farah and in front of the Italian Daniele Meucci .

Christopher Thompson lives in Eugene ( Oregon ) and starts for the Aldershot, Farnham & District association. He is trained by John Nuttall and Mark Rowland and mentored by PACE Sports Management .
