The Christ Church Dietzenbach is a Protestant parish church in Dietzenbach , the district town of the Offenbach district ( Hesse ). The listed baroque building stands on Darmstädter Straße in the old town, is the oldest Protestant church in the Rodgau deanery area , and is regarded as the ultimate symbol of Dietzenbach .

Architecture and history

The church has existed in its current form since 1753/54. A small , single-nave church consecrated to St. Martin already existed in the same place in Carolingian times . A free-standing Gothic tower was built on its east side in 1462 , which also served as a defense tower . During the Thirty Years' War , a large part of the village was burned down by Swedish troops in the winter of 1634/35 . The church also burned down, but was then repaired.

In the middle of the 18th century it was decided to replace the old nave with a new building, which was added to the east of the existing mighty tower with the tracery windows in the westwork. The building was carried out in 1753/54 and inaugurated on October 27, 1754. It is a hall building with a three-sided closure in the east. The choir gallery with the pulpit is on the west side. The gable roof of the tower with the hooded lantern dates from the time of the new ship.

Today's organ with 13 registers and two manuals was built in 1948 by the organ building company Förster & Nicolaus from Lich , taking into account the existing prospectus and some parts of the pipework . These were after the British bombing raid on Dietzenbach on the night of 20/21. September 1941 the only usable parts of the organ, which had been built in 1891 by the Bernhard brothers from Gambach . This in turn replaced an organ built in 1700 and fitted with a new case and registers in 1754.
