Ernest Charles "Chuck" Arnason (born July 15, 1951 in Ashern , Manitoba ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who, during his active time from 1968 to 1981, worked for the Canadiens de Montréal , Atlanta Flames , Pittsburgh Penguins , Kansas City Scouts , Colorado Rockies , Cleveland Barons , Minnesota North Stars and Washington Capitals have played in the National Hockey League . His son Tyler is also a professional ice hockey player.
Career
Chuck Arnason began his career as a hockey player with the Selkirk Steelers, for which he was active in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League in the 1968/69 season . With 36 goals he was the top scorer in the entire league this season. The winger then played for the Flin Flon Bombers in the Western Canada Hockey League for two years . In this he was able to convince especially in the 1970/71 season, when he was selected as top scorer and top scorer in the first All-Star team in the junior league. He was then selected in the first round of the 1971 NHL Amateur Draft as the seventh player of the Canadiens de Montréal . For the Canadiens he played from 1971 to 1973 in the National Hockey League , and in parallel for their farm team Nova Scotia Voyageurs in the American Hockey League .
Following the 1972/73 season , Arnason was given to the Atlanta Flames . For this he then played only half a year before he was given to the Pittsburgh Penguins on January 4, 1974 together with Bob Paradise in exchange for Al McDonough . In Pittsburgh, the Canadian was able to fight for a regular place in the NHL squad in the following years, but those responsible decided to transfer him to the Kansas City Scouts in January 1976 . Between 1976 and 1979 the right-handed shooter changed clubs several times and played in the NHL for the Colorado Rockies , Cleveland Barons , Minnesota North Stars and Washington Capitals , as well as in the Central Hockey League for the Phoenix Roadrunners and Oklahoma City Stars .
Arnason spent the entire 1979/80 season with the Dallas Black Hawks in the Central Hockey League. He last played in the 1980/81 season for the Cologne EC in the ice hockey Bundesliga , for which he scored five goals in 16 games and provided seven assists. He then ended his career at the age of 30.
