Klara Ungar (singer)

Klara Ungar , also Clara Ungar ( 1840 in Vienna - 16 May 1916 in Schöneberg near Berlin ) was an Austrian opera singer ( soprano ) who performed in Germany.

Life

Her parents died young and she was raised in the family of an uncle along with her two sisters, who would later become actresses Louise Ungar and Marie Ungar. After her talent for singing was discovered, she became a student of Heinrich Proch and Richard Löffler in Vienna . She made her debut at the Neustrelitz Court Theater as "Agathe" in Freischütz . Then she went to Augsburg , Stettin and the Kroll Opera in Berlin . When Arthur Woltersdorff left the opera, she went to the Riga Opera, then to Danzig and returned to Berlin in 1863Friedrich-Wilhelmstädtische Theater back. There she worked almost exclusively in Offenbach operettas . Due to overexertion, she lost her voice here and had to slowly restore it. In 1874 she left Berlin again and was engaged in Hamburg , Breslau , Magdeburg and Düsseldorf . From then on she played on theaters in Dessau (1878 to 1881), Saint Petersburg , again in Breslau (1883 to 1885), at the Brno City Theater (1887 to 1889), at the Court Theater in Oldenburg (1890 to 1895), then for the third time in Breslau, at the Schauspielhaus Munich and at the Belle Alliance Theater in Berlin. In 1900 she withdrew from the stage. She died in Schöneberg near Berlin in 1916.
