Claudia Kraft

Claudia Kraft (born August 21, 1968 in Bad Nauheim ) is a German historian .

Claudia Kraft studied Eastern European History , Slavic Studies and Political Science at the universities in Gießen , Tübingen , Mainz and Marburg from 1988 to 1994 . After completing her master's degree, from 1996 to 1999 she worked on a German-Polish source edition on the expulsion and forced resettlement of Germans after the Second World War. After working for one year at the GWZO in Leipzig, she completed her doctorate in 2001 in Marburg with Hans Lemberg . She then worked at the German Historical Institute in Warsaw from 2001 to 2004 . Via an academic council at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum , she found a professorship at the University of Erfurt in 2005 , where she taught until 2011. From autumn 2011 to spring 2018 she was Professor of European Contemporary History at the University of Siegen . She then moved to the chair for contemporary, cultural, knowledge and gender history at the University of Vienna .

In 2007 she was awarded the Leipzig Societas Jablonoviana Prize for her work . She is u. a. Member of the German-Czech Historical Commission , the Collegium Carolinum , the German-Polish Copernicus Group and the editorial board of Docupedia Contemporary History . She is also co-editor of the journal for East Central Europe research .

Her research interests lie in the European history of the 20th century, especially in the history of Poland. Regional, gender and scientific history as well as transnational legal history are of particular importance.
