Claudine Auger

Claudine Auger (born April 26, 1941 as Claudine Oger in Paris ; † December 18, 2019 there ) was a French actress . She was Miss World France in 1958 .

Life

She was born in Paris in 1941, where she grew up and attended St. Joan of Arc College and later the Drama Conservatory. At the age of 17 she won the Miss World France title in 1958 and was runner-up in the Miss World competition. Jean Cocteau cast her in 1959 for her first supporting role. In The Testament of Orpheus , she played a ballerina. Five years later she played her best-known role, that of the Bond girl Dominique "Domino" Derval in the James Bond film Thunderball . The role was originally created as the Italian Dominetta Palazzi and should be played by Luciana Paluzzi , who then took over the role of the "bad Bond girl".

Thunderball brought Auger a successful film career in Europe, but not in the USA . Her work includes 80 film and television productions. She last appeared as an actress in 1997.

At the age of 18, she married 41-year-old Pierre Gaspard-Huit , from whom she later divorced. Her second marriage was to Peter Brent. Brent died in August 2008.

Claudine Auger died in Paris in December 2019 at the age of 78.
