Claudio Böckli

Claudio Böckli (born June 20, 1984 in Wetzikon ) is a former biathlete from Switzerland .

Claudio Böckli began biathlon in 1998 and has been a member of the Swiss national team since 2000. He starts for SC am Bachtel and is trained by Markus Segessenmann . The carpenter from Seegräben started in 2000 in Hochfilzen for the first time at the Junior World Championships, but only finished behind. Just two years later in Ridanna , he presented himself greatly improved. In the individual he was fourth, in the sprint sixth and in the pursuit eleventh. The following Junior European Championship in Kościelisko was again less successful, but when he last started at such an event in 2005 in Kontiolahti , he finished fifth in the individual again. Since 2002 Böckli has also started in the Junior European Cup, since the 2005/06 season in the European Cup. In 2007 he took part in the biathlon world championships for the first time in Antholz . Böckli was used in the individual (56th) and the sprint (67th) and took 17th place with the team. Since the 2007/08 season , Böckli has also competed in the Biathlon World Cup . In Kontiolahti he was 51st in his first race (individual), but only 101st in the subsequent sprint. At the second World Cup station in Hochfilzen, he managed to collect World Cup points for the first time as 26th in a sprint race. In 2008 , the Swiss competed in his second World Championships in Östersund and achieved a 62nd place in the sprint, missing out on the pursuit by just two places. Böckli achieved the same result in singles at the 2009 World Championships in Pyeongchang . In Ruhpolding , as part of the 2009/10 season , he improved his best World Cup ranking by ten places as 16th in a sprint.
