Claus Stauder

Claus Stauder (born March 16, 1938 in Essen ) is a German entrepreneur and sports official. From 1985 to 1999 he was President of the German Tennis Association .

Claus Stauder is the son of the brewery entrepreneur and doctor of law Hans-Jacob Stauder. After completing his doctorate in law , Claus Stauder worked for various companies before returning to the family business. In 1967 Rolf Stauder took over the management of the private brewery Jacob Stauder as master brewer and Claus Stauder as sales manager . The brothers Rolf and Claus Stauder were the fifth generation at the top of the company. In 2005 Rolf's son Axel and Claus' son Thomas took over the management. Senior boss Claus Stauder thus withdrew from day-to-day business, his brother Rolf had died in October 2004.

In addition to his professional career, Claus Stauder was and is an active tennis player at ETuF Essen . He was a board member of his association for many years. He also served on the board of the Niederrhein Tennis Association and was the Vice President of the German Tennis Federation responsible for sport . In 1985 Stauder took over the office of President of the German Tennis Association as successor to Walther Rosenthal . Stauder led the association during the tennis boom caused by Boris Becker and Steffi Graf with increasing membership numbers and a large presence in the media. In addition to his work in the Tennis Association, Stauder was a personal member of the National Olympic Committee . In 1999 Stauder handed over the presidency to Karl Weber. Claus Stauder is Honorary President of the German Tennis Association.

During his studies in Freiburg, Claus Stauder became a member of the KDStV Ripuaria Freiburg im Breisgau .
