Karl-Georg Altenburg (born March 4, 1963 in Mülheim an der Ruhr ) is a German bank manager and former sports official. From 2011 to 2014 he was President of the German Tennis Association .

Life

After graduating from high school, Altenburg completed a mechanical engineering degree at RWTH Aachen University . He then worked from 1988 to 1990 for the management consultancy Arthur D. Little and then for the investment bank Salomon Brothers . In addition, he did his doctorate in 1990 at the Vienna University of Technology . In 1993 he moved to the American bank JP Morgan Chase , for which he worked in New York and London. In 2000 he was a founding member and Chief Financial Officer ( CFO ) at Inquam Ltd., a specialist provider of professional mobile radio. From 2004 he headed the Investment Banking department at JP Morgan in the Germany / Austria region. On July 1, 2006, he was appointed CEO for the two countries. At the beginning of 2009, his area of ​​responsibility was expanded to include Switzerland.

In April 2014 Altenburg moved to Deutsche Bank . There, together with the investment banker Miles Millard, he heads the Corporate Finance department for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, which advises corporate clients, banks and countries in this region.

On November 13, 2011, Altenburg was elected President of the German Tennis Association (DTB) to succeed Georg Freiherr von Waldenfels and led the association until his resignation in November 2014.
