Franz Helmis

Franz Helmis (born November 23, 1899 - † September 5, 1986 ) was a German sports official.

Career

Helmis came from Nuremberg. There he was a co-founder of the TC Noris Weiß-Blau in 1925 . As an active player, he won the Bavarian Championships three times. He started working as a functionary at the age of 33. From 1949 to 1958 he was President of the Bavarian Tennis Association . He was also treasurer of the German Tennis Federation (DTB) for seven years and its president from 1958 to 1967.

The German team tennis championships for young seniors were named after him, the Great Franz Helmis Games , which have been taking place since 1987.
