Clemens Kost

Clemens Kost (born June 20, 1903 in Waldböckelheim ; † September 12, 1973 in Bad Kreuznach ) was a German politician ( center , later CDU ).

Life

After attending primary school, Kost initially earned his living as a postal worker. From 1920 to 1929 he worked for Rheinstahl AG in the Ruhr area . In 1920 he joined the Christian Metalworkers' Association , for which he worked full-time as a union secretary in Bad Kreuznach from 1929. During this time he worked as a member of the Center Party in local politics .

After the National Socialists came to power and the Christian trade unions were dissolved, Kost was dismissed as trade union secretary and in 1933 was temporarily placed in " protective custody ". A period of unemployment followed. In 1935 he was imprisoned in a prison for two weeks for insulting the NSDAP district leader in Kreuznach. From 1935 to 1945 he worked as an organizational manager at a company in Mannheim . During the time of National Socialism he was a member of the German Labor Front and from 1938 a member of the Reichsbund German Family .

Kost had held a managerial position at the Bad Kreuznach employment office since 1945, was promoted to director there in 1949 and had been a member of the administrative board since 1951. After 1945 he participated in the founding of the ÖTV and became its deputy district chairman.

Kost was one of the founders of the CDU in the Bad Kreuznach district and was elected chairman of the CDU district association in 1950. He was active again in local politics, was a member of the city council from 1946 and from 1946 to 1952 an honorary alderman of the city of Bad Kreuznach. From 1946 to 1964 he was a member of the district council and the district committee Bad Kreuznach, from 1952 as chairman of the CDU parliamentary group. From 1964 to 1973 he was second district deputy.

From October 12, 1957, when he replaced the resigned MP Jakob Diel on the CDU state list , until 1967 Kost was a member of the state parliament of Rhineland-Palatinate . In the state elections in 1959 and 1963 he was elected to parliament via the state list. From his entry until he left the state parliament, he was a member of the viticulture and wine industry committee.
