Clever & Smart is a Spanish film adaptation of the 2003 comic book Clever & Smart .
content
Doctor Bacterio has developed a device that can be the victim for a short time discouraged: the DDT ( D emoralisierer D he t 'groups). When this weapon is stolen during the tests, TIA boss Mister L blames the two agents Fred Clever and Jeff Smart for the incident, who turned up late for duty and thus allowed a gap in the security system. However, instead of the two of them, the American agent Freddy Muskulus is tasked with recovering the dangerous invention, while Clever and Smart have to be content with a boring move. When they themselves mess up this job and also demolish Mister L's sports car and the TIA headquarters, they are dishonorably dismissed from the secret service.
Meanwhile, Freddy Muskulus tracks down the thief when, in addition to the DDT, he also wants to sell another device from the bacterius laboratory, a weather machine, to the Tirania head of state who is willing to build. He intends to use the DDT to invade England and build social housing instead of Buckingham Palace. When Muskulus tries to prevent the handover of the DDT at the Tiranian state border, he and the thief are taken to the dungeon of the presidential palace in Tirania. There they manage to escape. When Freddy overhears a conversation with the president's butler in the office, he discovers that the president is looking for a successor. Then Muskulus eliminates the chosen heir to the throne Sigurt and pretends to be him, while he makes sure that the thief pretends to be Agent Muskulus and is executed. This is how Freddy succeeds in faking his own death and slipping into the role of the heir to the throne. Because he intends to take over the legacy of the president and thus not only become powerful but also rich. When TIA boss Mister L learns of Muskulus (faked) death, he believes that the top agent has failed and is looking for a new agent to complete Freddy's assignment.
Meanwhile, Clever and Smart have made the decision to bring the DDT back on their own. They find out that the boxing master Micki the Giant was involved in the theft and are admitted to the prison, where they hope to get more information from Micki personally. However, the plan goes badly again and the two agents are stuck in prison. Clever then gets in touch with Mister L and declares that he is ready to slip into the role of the natural son of the President of Tirania in order to come to Tirania and complete Freddy's mission. Clever abandons Smart and is released from prison. As he prepares for his mission, Smart manages to break out.
Muskulus, disguised as Sigurt, goes in search of the alleged son of the tyrant in order to kill him. Freddy and Fred finally meet in Smart's mother's apartment and a fight ensues. When Smart arrives, Muskulus flees to Tirania as a hostage with Smart's mother and the short-sighted Mr. Blindhuhn, but not without leaving a message. In it, he asks Clever to renounce all claims and leave the throne to him. It is of course clear that the two agents cannot allow this, and Clever and Smart, accompanied by Miss Ophelia, Mister L's overweight secretary, set off for Tirania. There it comes to the grand finale, where Clever, Smart and Ophelia fight against Muskulus during the speech of the president and finally defeat him. They also come across the Holy Grail in the president's trophy cabinet, which cleverly saves life in the end. It turns out that the ruler of Tirania is in truth Smart's father. The rule of Tirania is then left to Mr. Blindhuhn, mother and father come together again and Clever and Smart celebrate their triumphant success.
Reviews
Lexicon of international film : Infantile real adaptation of a classic Spanish comic, which translates the brutal and subversive jokes of the original into a mild slapstick revue full of dumb dialogues.
Stuttgarter Zeitung : A lot of it is just painfully stupid, supposed parody turns into real stupidity, and the amount of failed gags unfortunately makes the comedy a torture for a long time.
Cinema : Conclusion: Neither clever nor smart, but the hysterical slapstick version of a “ praline ” joke page.
