Clive Russell (born December 7, 1945 in Reeth , Yorkshire Dales , England ) is a Scottish actor.

Life

Russell was born in Reeth, England and grew up in Fife , Scotland. As an actor, Russell has appeared on numerous British television productions and series, often produced by the BBC , including Monarch of the Glen , Waking the Dead , coroner Dr. Leo Dalton and Spaced . From 2005 to 2006 he played the role of Phil Neil on Coronation Street .

In addition to television, he was also active in various films. In 1995 he starred in The End of All Dreams alongside Helena Bonham Carter . Other films he has appeared in include The 13th Warrior (1999), The Scent of Lavender (2004), Sherlock Holmes (2009) and Wolfman (2010). In 2016 he starred alongside Sean Bean in The Young Messiah .

From 2012 to 2016 Russell starred in the British crime series Ripper Street . In 2013 he played the role of Brynden "Black Fish" Tully in the third season of the television series Game of Thrones . He returned to this role in the sixth season.

Russell lives in Hither Green , London .
