Clive Tickner

Clive Tickner (born December 1943 in Harrow , London ) is a British film producer and cameraman . He has shot nearly 70 films for television, including several children's films, as well as documentaries, commercials, and music videos.

life and work

Tickner studied sculpture at an art college. After completing his bachelor's degree, he went on to graduate in film. Around 1968 he founded a small company that produced 16mm short and documentary films. At the same time he was working as an errand boy in various film studios. Until the early 1980s, he only produced documentaries a. a. for British television.

In 1987, Stuart Orme set him as a cameraman for the five-part series The Fear produced by Euston Films . For both of them it was the first production in a series. Tickner was involved in several series as a cameraman, so in Inspector Morse, Mordkommission Oxford (1987-1988), Traffik (1989), Hitler for sale (1991), Anglo Saxon Attitudes (1992), who won a BAFTA award was awarded for the best serial drama , as well as episodes 2-6 of the six-part series Ivanhoe (1997).

In 1994 Orme brought him on as a cameraman for Puppet Masters , a science fiction film based on the novel by Robert A. Heinlein starring Donald Sutherland , which was nominated for the Saturn Award in 1995 . In 1999 he photographed Trevor Nunn's adaptation of Shakespeare's Was ihr wollt with Helena Bonham Carter , Ben Kingsley , Toby Stephens and Imogen Stubbs in the leading roles.

Tickner has been a member of the British Society of Cinematographers since 1999 and was president from 2000 to 2002. In 2001 he was made an honorary member of the British Cinematograph Sound and Television Society.
