Parish before the 1956 merger
Colla village

Until 1955, Colla was a political municipality in the Lugano district in the Swiss canton of Ticino . After two municipal mergers, the village of Colla is now part of the municipality of Lugano .

geography

The hamlet is located at the upper end of the Val Colla at an altitude of 996 m. ü. M., at the southern foot of the 2116 m above sea level. M. high Gazzirola. The San Lucio Pass (1541 m above sea level) leads from here to the Italian municipality of Cavargna .

history

In 1956 Colla merged with the municipalities of Scareglia , Insone , Piandera and Signôra to form the new municipality of Valcolla , which has been part of Lugano since 2013 . As a local civil parish (patriciate) it still exists today.
