The district of Lugano North , together with the districts of Agno , Breno , Capriasca , Ceresio , Lugano East , Lugano West , Magliasina , Paradiso , Sessa , Taverne , and Vezia, form the Lugano district of the Swiss canton of Ticino . The seat of the district office is in Lugano .
The group was established by decree of 17 June 2013 to 13 August 2013 and consists of the former municipalities Sonvico , Cimadera , Villa Luganese , Davesco-Soragno , Certara , Bogno , Valcolla and Cadro together, now the city Lugano are .
The districts Davesco-Soragno (since 2003 near Lugano) and Villa Luganese (incorporated since 2007), previously allocated to the district of Lugano East, changed to the district of Lugano North when it was founded.
The reorganization of the district structure became necessary with the incorporation of Valcolla, because the localities of Scareglia, Signora, Colla, Cozzo and Bogno are located on the right bank of the Cassarate river. According to the old model , they should have been allocated to the district of Lugano West , while the remaining area of the former municipality of Valcolla (namely Certara, Cimadera and Piandera) was assigned to the district of Lugano East .
