Cimadera was until April 13, 2013 municipality in the county Sonvico , district Lugano in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland .

The former municipalities of Bogno , Certara , Cimadera and Valcolla now belong to the new Lugano district of Val Colla .

geography

The former municipality is located at 1087 m above sea level. M. on the left side slope at the top of Val Colla and 11 km north of Lugano and borders Italy .

history

The first documentary mention is for the year 1422. The village was called Cima d'Era . Originally it was only inhabited during the period when the farmers of Treciore (hamlet of Sonvico ) drove their cattle to the Alps. As a result of the plague of 1525, the population finally settled here. Cimadera belonged to the municipality and vicinia of Sonvico. It was separated from both by a decree of May 9, 1878.
