The county Sonvico made up on April 13, 2013 together with the circles Agno , Breno , Capriasca , Carona , Ceresio , Lugano West , Lugano East , Magliasina , Sessa , tavern and Vezia the District Lugano of the Swiss canton of Ticino . The seat of the district office was in Sonvico .

The Sonvico district was dissolved through the merger of all of its remaining municipalities with Lugano in 2013. However, he lives on in the newly founded district of Lugano Nord , which includes the entire area of ​​the previous district (including the Villa Luganese, which was separated in 2007) and the former community of Davesco-Soragno (which was in the Pregassona district until 2004) .
