Davesco and Soragno (1948)

Davesco-Soragno is a district of the city of Lugano in the Lugano Nord district , in the Lugano district , in the Swiss canton of Ticino . Until it was incorporated into the city of Lugano on April 4, 2004, it formed an independent political municipality . In 2000, the two places had 1,288 inhabitants.

geography

The community consists of two districts in the Cassaratetal and lies at 428 m above sea level. At the foot of Monte Boglia , 4 km from Lugano train station.

history

Davesco was first mentioned in 1110 as curtis Avesco and Soragno in 1335 as Soragnio . Finds from the Copper and Iron Ages with North Etruscan inscriptions as well as from Roman times indicate an earlier settlement. As early as 1624 Davesco formed a neighborhood with Soragno. The villages lived from agriculture and money from emigrants.
