The wines with the designation Colli Altotiberini DOC are produced in the area of ​​the Upper Tiber in the province of Perugia , Umbria . They have had a "controlled designation of origin " ( Denominazione di origine controllata - DOC) since 1980 , which was last updated on March 7, 2014.

Cultivation

In the hills on both sides of the Tiber, white , rosé and red wines with DOC status are produced in the municipalities of San Giustino , Citerna , Città di Castello , Monte Santa Maria Tiberina , Montone , Umbertide , Gubbio and Perugia . There is evidence that viniculture has been practiced in this area since the Etruscan era .
