action

Casey works at a local library in the US city of Columbus and looks after her mother, who is recovering from a crystal meth addiction. The city is famous for its many modernist buildings. One day the young woman, who is interested in architecture, meets the Korean Jin when she wants to go to a lecture that has been canceled. The man in his thirties works as a translator and traveled to Columbus because his father is in a coma there in a hospital . The professor was supposed to be giving the architecture lecture Casey was going to attend there.

Jin and Casey are both stuck in complicated life situations. Their future is uncertain. Jin is stranded in a strange city far from home and cannot mend the estranged relationship with his father because he is in a coma. Casey cannot leave Columbus and her mother to pursue their own dreams. Only when they walk together, taking a closer look at the architecture that surrounds them, can both relax and open up during their conversations.

reception

Reviews

The film has so far won over 97 percent of Rotten Tomatoes critics and received an average rating of 8.2 out of a possible 10 points.

Collider's Brian Formo says, “It's an impressive directorial debut. And although attention and interest sometimes wanes during the runtime, it always looks splendid, and Richardson puts the story on her shoulders and elevates the film into a beguiling, thin air. She lends the beautiful but empty buildings a beating heart. "
