Come Clean is the second studio album by the US post-grunge band Puddle of Mudd . It was published on August 28, 2001 and is the successor to Abrasive .

Come Clean is the first album on a major label . The debut album Abrasive was marketed by the band itself. A contract with Flawless Records came about because Limp Bizkit front man Fred Durst became aware of the band through a demo recording. Since the band had split up at the time, Durst put together a new band around Wes Scantlin. Come Clean brought the band the national and international breakthrough. The single Blurry is the band's most successful to this day. At the Billboard Music Awards 2002 the band was nominated in 5 categories and won 4 of them: In addition to the awards for best rock band and best modern rock band , they also won awards for best rock title and best modern rock title for Blurry . They were also nominated in the category for the best band. The album largely contains characteristics of the post-grunge music style that became popular after the breakup of Nirvana in the 1990s and is similar to that of Creed , Nickelback , 3 Doors Down or Staind .

For Stephan Friedrich from laut.de, Puddle of Mudd is one of the most hopeful retro grunge acts of the next few years . Even without the support of Fred Durst, the band would have made their breakthrough. Even if the class of 3 Doors Down or Alice in Chains is not reached, the album is a consistently solid and good record . Matthias Eisen from cdstarts.de is reminded of Nirvana at Come Clean . Puddle Of Mudd sounds like nirvana. Quite honestly. [...] Already the angular "Nobody Told Me" is strikingly reminiscent of Cobain works, especially through the vocals. The music is varied and catchy and has a certain depth . Overall, he awards 8.5 out of 10 possible points. Bret Love from allmusic.com, however, only awarded 2.5 out of 5 points.
