Comunidad San Francisco is a town in the Santa Cruz Department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

Comunidad San Francisco is a village in the canton of Parapetí Grande in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Charagua in the province of Cordillera . The village lies at an altitude of 609  m between the Voranden chain of the Serranía Charagua in the west, which rises to an altitude of 1349  m near the neighboring San Antonio de Parapetí , and the wetland of the Bañados de Izozog in the east.

Comunidad San Francisco is located in the tropical climate area in the South American Gran Chaco , the six-month wet season extends from November to April and the dry season from May to October.

The annual average temperature is 23 ° C (see Camiri climate diagram), with 17 to 18 ° C from June to July and over 26 ° C from November to December. The annual precipitation is almost 900 mm, the wettest months are December and January with 175 mm and the driest months July and August with almost 10 mm.

Comunidad San Francisco is 295 kilometers by road south of Santa Cruz , the capital of the department of the same name.

From Santa Cruz, the paved road Ruta 9 leads south via Cabezas to Abapó on the banks of the Río Grande and on via Ipitá and Villamontes to Yacuiba on the Bolivian border with Argentina . Five kilometers south of Abapó, Ruta 36 branches off in an easterly direction , which is asphalted for the first 39 kilometers to San Isidro del Espino and then for a further 114 kilometers of unpaved road via Igmiri , Saipurú and Tapyta to Charagua and on via Machipo to Comunidad San Francisco leads.

Due to the historically grown population distribution, the region has a significant proportion of Guaraní population, in the Municipio Charagua 48.8 percent of the population speak the Guaraní language .
