Constance "Connie" Booth (born December 2, 1944 in Indianapolis , Indiana ) is an American screenwriter and actress .

Life

The actress Connie Booth married the English comedian John Cleese on February 20, 1968 . During her ten-year marriage to Cleese, she appeared in the television film How to Irritate People , some parts of the series Monty Python's Flying Circus , the film The Knights of the Coconut and the television series Fawlty Towers , for the latter, she also wrote the with Cleese Scripts. In German-speaking countries, Booth is also known as the mother of the little lord in the 1980 film adaptation of The Little Lord , which ARD repeats every year before Christmas .

In 1995 Booth ended her acting career and settled in London as a psychotherapist . Since 2000 she has been married to the theater critic John Lahr , a son of the actor Bert Lahr , for the second time . Her daughter with John Cleese, Cynthia Cleese , starred in A Fish Called Wanda and Wild Creatures with her father .
