Conrad Christoph von Blixen

Conrad Christoph von Blixen ( Swedish Conrad Christoffer friherre von Blixen ; born July 22, 1716 in Klein Zastrow ; † April 2, 1787 ibid) was a general in the Swedish army from Swedish Pomerania .

Life

Conrad Christoph was the eldest son of Conrad Christoph von Blixen (1679–1751) and Elisabeth Sophie von Flotow (1679–1751). He joined the Swedish Life Guard as a volunteer in 1730. In 1731 he became a Fourier and in 1732 he was promoted to sergeant . In 1733 he was a lieutenant in the infantry bodyguard of the Polish King Stanislaus I. Leszczyński . There he was promoted to captain in 1734 and served as royal body member in 1737 .

In 1744, the year of his wedding, he moved with his wife to live with his father-in-law in Näsbyholm in Sweden. In 1747 he joined the Queen's body regiment as a captain and was promoted to major in the same year . He was promoted to lieutenant colonel in 1755, and in 1761 to general adjutant and colonel in the army. In 1766 he became head of a regiment named after him in Stralsund . In 1771 he was one of the supporters of King Gustav III. In 1772 he was appointed major general and in 1776 promoted to lieutenant general.

Conrad Christoph von Blixen was appointed knight in 1748 and commander of the Order of the Sword in 1772 . Together with his brother Hans Gustav, he was admitted to the Swedish nobility (naturalized) in 1756. In 1772 he was raised to the status of a Swedish baron .

Since 1744 he was married to Margaretha Catharina von Finecke , who grew up in Passow near Klein Zastrow. Her parents were Christian Henrich von Finecke, captain of the Danish Guard and owner of Passow in Western Pomerania and Näsbyholm in Skåne , and Christina Sophia von Soltow. The marriage had three sons and two daughters, including the later Lieutenant General Carl Philip von Blixen-Finecke. Christian Henrich von Finecke set up a Fideikommiss in Näsbyholm for the benefit of his eldest grandson Conrad Christian von Blixen, which was administered by his father until he was of legal age.
