Constantin von Ettingshausen
Constantin Freiherr von Ettingshausen (born June 16, 1826 in Vienna ; † February 1, 1897 in Graz ) was a paleobotanist at the University of Graz . Its official botanical author abbreviation is “ Ettingsh. ".
Live and act
Ettingshausen was the son of the physicist Andreas von Ettingshausen and his son Albert von Ettingshausen also became a physicist.
Ettingshausen studied medicine at the University of Vienna , where he received his doctorate in 1848. Then he worked as a traveler on behalf of the Geological Reichsanstalt . In 1871 he became professor of botany at the University of Graz, where he was also rector in 1881. Ettingshausen illustrated his numerous publications with nature prints and achieved the highest level of perfection in this technique. His estate is in the Graz University Library .
