Cornelius Chitsulo
Cornelius Chitsulo SMM (born December 19, 1909 in Mua , Nyassaland , † February 28, 1984 in Dedza ) was Bishop of Dedza in what is now Malawi .
Life
Cornelius Chitsulo received on 5 September 1937, the sacrament of Holy Orders .
On November 9, 1956, Pope Pius XII appointed him . the titular bishop of Bonitza and ordered him for the first Apostolic Vicar of Dedza. The Vicar Apostolic of Likuni , Joseph Fady MAfr , donated him episcopal ordination on May 11, 1957 ; Co-consecrators were the Apostolic Vicar Emeritus of Zomba , Lawrence Pullen Hardman SMM , and the Emeritus Vicar Apostolic of Shiré , John Baptist Hubert Theunissen SMM.
On April 25, 1959 Cornelius Chitsulo became the first bishop of Dedza as a result of the elevation of the Apostolic Vicariate Dedza to the diocese .
Cornelius Chitsulo attended the first, second and third sessions of the Second Vatican Council .
