Cornelius Roth

Cornelius Roth (born May 28, 1968 in Stuttgart ) is a Roman Catholic theologian and former Regens of the Fulda seminary as well as full professor of liturgical science and spirituality at the theological faculty in Fulda .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1987, Roth completed a 20-month community service in a Protestant nursing home in Sindelfingen . He then entered the Fulda seminary in 1989 and began studying theology and philosophy there . On 25 June 1995 he received from Archbishop Johannes Dyba in Fulda Cathedral , the ordination . He performed his first pastoral duties as a chaplain and later as a parish administrator in Marburg. In October 1997 he took up a doctoral degree in dogmatics in Freiburg im Breisgau , which he completed with his dissertation “Discretio spirituum - Criteria for spiritual differentiation in Johannes Gerson” with Professor Gisbert Greshake . In January 2014, Roth received his habilitation from the Paderborn Theological Faculty .

In October 2000 Roth became Subregens in the Fulda seminary, two years later Regens. He held this office until August 2014. In October 2005, Pope Benedict XVI awarded him the honorary title of Monsignor ("Chaplain to His Holiness"). From 2006 to 2010 he was ecumenical advisor and chairman of the ecumenical commission of the diocese of Fulda .

In 2001, Roth received a teaching assignment for the subject of spirituality at the Fulda Theological Faculty, and from the 2007/2008 winter semester also in liturgical studies. On October 1, 2010, he was appointed full professor for these two subjects.
