Gerhard Stanke

Gerhard Stanke (born November 4, 1945 in Thröm , Upper Silesia ) is a German clergyman and vicar general of the diocese of Fulda .

Life

Stanke was born in Thröm in the district of Ratibor in the Hultschiner Ländchen in Upper Silesia. The place fell back to the re-established Czechoslovakia at the end of World War II , and 103 of the remaining residents were expelled to Germany. The family settled in Thalau in 1946 , and Stanke later attended the Fulda Cathedral Gymnasium . After graduation in 1965 he began studying theology and philosophy in Koenigstein , Munich and Fulda and received on 4 April 1971 by Bishop Adolf Bolte in Fulda Cathedral , the ordination . He initially worked as a chaplain in Wächtersbach , Amöneburg and Bad Orb and then began studying moral theology in Würzburg , which he completed with a doctorate in 1980 . In the same year he was appointed Regens of the Fulda Seminary by Bishop Eduard Schick and remained in this position for 22 years. From 1988 to 1991 he also worked as a diocesan women's chaplain and since February 1, 1999 has been the clerical adviser to the Social Service of Catholic Women (SkF) in the diocese of Fulda. From 1991 until 2004 Stanke was Full Professor of Moral Theology at the Theological Faculty of Fulda and became the 1994 canon named on Fulda Cathedral.

From autumn 2002 to autumn 2003, Stanke was chairman of the task force for the examination of allegations of sexual abuse of minors by clergy and is still a member. As successor to Auxiliary Bishop Johannes Kapp , he took over the office of Episcopal Vicar to the Bishop of Fulda and Personnel Officer for priests and lay people in the pastoral service from 2003 to 2008 . Bishop Martin Roos of Timișoara in Romania appointed Stanke in March 2004 in recognition of his services to the education and training of priests in his diocese as honorary cathedral chapter at the Timișoara Cathedral .

Since October 15, 2008, Stanke was vicar general of the diocese of Fulda and thus deputy to Bishop Heinz Josef Algermissen and head of the ordinariate . With the acceptance of the resignation of Bishop Algermissen on June 5, 2018 by Pope Francis , the office of Vicar General also expired. On June 9 of the same year he was appointed permanent representative of the diocesan administrator, Auxiliary Bishop Karlheinz Diez , for the period of the Sedis vacancy . Bishop Michael Gerber reappointed him as Vicar General on March 31, 2019. Christof Steinert took over this position on January 1, 2020.
