Cottonwood is a US city in Arizona in Yavapai County . In 2016 it had around 11,600 inhabitants on an area of ​​27.6 km². Arizona State Route 89A , where Arizona State Route 260 begins, runs through Cottonwood .

history

The first Anglo-American settlers settled in the Cottonwood area, inhabited by the Apaches and Yavapai, in the late 1870s. They provided the soldiers in the nearby Camp Verde and the numerous workers involved in the exploitation of the gold, silver and copper mines in neighboring Jerome .

Cottonwood received city status in 1960.
