Eagar is a city in Apache County in the US state of Arizona . According to a 2010 census, the population was 4,885.
history
The Eagar area was first settled by Anglo-Americans in 1871 and the site was founded in 1888. Eagar has been an independent municipality since 1948.
geography
Eagar's geographic coordinates are 34 ° 6 ′ N , 109 ° 18 ′ W , at the base of the White Mountains . According to the United States Census Bureau , the place has an area of 29.4 km², all of which is land. Several lakes are in the area including Big Lake , Crescent Lake , Nelson Reservoir , Lyman Lake , Sunrise Lake, and Luna Lake . Eagar is north of the Apache National Forest and at the foot of the White Mountains. The largest ski area in Arizona, Sunrise Park Resort, is 25 miles west of the city.
US Highways 60 , 180 and 191 as well as Arizona State Route 260 run through Eagar .

Landmarks, tourism
The Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest is nearby, as is the ruins of Casa Malpais and the Sunrise Ski Area. Various outdoor activities are offered in the area, such as fishing, horse riding, etc.

- July 4th National Day - As everywhere in America, a big festival.
- Eagar Daze - A large agricultural and forestry exhibition is held every first Friday / Saturday in August. Among other things, chainsaw competitions are held here.

Industry
Forest and agricultural products are processed in the area, and various service companies are also located here.
religion
Eagar currently has three churches of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints . There are also churches of other religious communities such as Catholics and Jehovah's Witnesses .
