The Rock 'n' Roll Nashville Marathon ( Country Music Marathon until 2015 ) is a marathon that has been held in Nashville ( USA , state of Tennessee ) at the end of April since 2000 . It is organized by the Competitor Group , which bought the original organizer Elite Racing in 2008. A half marathon has also been part of the program since 2002 .

The start is at Centennial Park. From there you walk east on West End Avenue past Vanderbilt University into the city center. There is a loop on Broadway, 4th Avenue with the Schermerhorn Symphony Center and Demonbreun Street with the Country Music Hall of Fame , before heading south on 17th Avenue and past Belmont University on Belmont Boulevard goes. Return to the city center via this and 16th Avenue . As the half marathon runners circle the Tennessee State Capitol and head straight to the finish line at LP Field on the right bank of the Cumberland River , the marathoners continue north on a loop through Buena Vista Park and Ted Rhodes Park. On the way back they pass Bicentennial Mall State Park before switching to the right bank of the Cumberland River for the final quarter. Head east into Shelby Park and then walk downriver to the destination at LP Field.

In addition to the Rock 'n' Roll Nashville Marathon, Nashville has hosted the Harpeth Hills Flying Monkey Marathon since 2006 . This landscape run takes place in November on a profiled track in Percy Warner Park.

In 2010 the race was stopped due to a storm and the marathon runners still on the route were guided to the finish on the half marathon course or a distance of 20.4 or 22.2 miles .
