Aurica Buia

Aurica Buia (also Aura Buia ; born February 16, 1970 in Bratovoeşti , Dolj County ) is a former Romanian marathon runner .

In 1990 and 1991 she became the Romanian marathon champion. At the World Half Marathon Championships held as part of the Great North Run in 1992 , she came in 19th place and won bronze with the Romanian team. Shortly thereafter, she won the Istanbul Marathon .

The following year she was eighth in the Nagoya Marathon and seventh in the Berlin Marathon , and sixth in Berlin in 1994. In 1995 she finished 27th in the marathon of the World Athletics Championships in Gothenburg and was eleventh in the World Half Marathon Championships in Belfort .

In 1996, he won the Vienna City Marathon bronze in the individual and gold in the team classification at the World Half Marathon Championships in Palma . At the end of the season she was fourth in the Tokyo International Women's Marathon .

In 1997 she won the national championship title over the 42.195 km distance for the third time. At the World Athletics Championships in Athens she came in 18th place at the World Half Marathon Championships in Košice in 14th place. The following year, she was tenth at the Boston Marathon . At the European Athletics Championships in Budapest she ran to 23rd place and at the World Half Marathon Championships in Uster to 35th place.

In 2001 she reported back with a win at the Country Music Marathon . At Rock 'n' Roll Marathon , she was eighth in the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships in Bristol she took the 14th place, and the Milan City Marathon , she was sixth. In 2002 she defended her title at the Country Music Marathon and finished fifth at the Los Angeles Marathon and in Berlin. In the following season she came after a fourth place in Los Angeles and a second place in Vienna at the World Athletics Championships in Paris / Saint-Denis on 45th place.

In 2004 she finished sixth in the Rock 'n' Roll Arizona Marathon and fourth in the Salt Lake City Marathon . In the fall she came in 25th place at the Half Marathon World Championships in Delhi . In the final year of her career, after finishing ninth in Los Angeles and second in the Country Music Marathon at the 2005 World Athletics Championships in Helsinki, she came in 21st and fourth in Istanbul.
